The National Council for Neurology manages the process of modernizing Polish neurology. Its opinions will form the basis for creating appropriate regulations to improve accessibility to diagnosis, therapy, and enhance the quality of care for individuals with neurological conditions. The council places the greatest emphasis on neurodegenerative diseases (such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, and multiple sclerosis), stroke, and epilepsy. In collaboration with national scientific societies, the council develops and disseminates medical treatment standards for neurological diseases and prepares recommendations on the use of innovative technologies in the diagnosis and treatment of such conditions.
IAPRD was established about 50 years ago and is affiliated with the World Federation of Neurology, with its headquarters in the Netherlands. It is one of the leading organizations worldwide promoting research and clinical knowledge in the field of neurodegenerative diseases and movement disorders. IAPRD publishes the prestigious journal "Parkinsonism & Related Disorders" (Elsevier) and, more recently, its clinically focused extension called "Clinical Parkinsonism & Related Disorders.

NEUROLOGY CLINIC
The Neurology Clinic at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Medical University of Warsaw, has been operating for 13 years at the Mazowiecki Bródno Hospital. The clinic currently has 68 beds.
The team includes the Stroke Unit, General Neurology Unit, and Neurorehabilitation Unit.
The clinic is a leading center in Poland for the diagnosis and treatment of extrapyramidal disorders, to which patients from all over Poland are referred for diagnosis and treatment. The clinic manages qualification programs for advanced therapies for patients with Parkinson's disease. The experienced team qualifies patients for deep brain stimulation (DBS), treatment with duodenal levodopa infusion, and subcutaneous apomorphine infusion. All patients remain under the care of the clinic and continue to be treated on-site (in the ward or outpatient clinic). Due to the large number of patients being treated, the clinic's doctors share their extensive experience by organizing numerous lectures and training sessions.
Patients with the most severe brain strokes are treated in two Enhanced Neurological Supervision rooms. Collaboration with the Neurosurgery Department and the Vascular Surgery Clinic allows for modern treatment of diseases of the central nervous system.
The Electroencephalography Laboratory performs diagnostic tests on patients with seizure disorders and brain injuries. The Electromyography Laboratory conducts tests on patients with peripheral nervous system diseases - root inflammations, polyneuropathies, peripheral nerve damage, as well as rarer diseases such as myasthenia gravis and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Specialist clinics run within the clinic: Parkinsonism Clinic, Epilepsy and Headache Clinic, Memory Disorders Clinic, Multiple Sclerosis Clinic, and Neuromuscular Disorders Clinic.
The organization has been one of the driving forces behind changes in the systemic treatment of Parkinson's disease. The Foundation's efforts resulted in the final reimbursement of two previously unavailable therapies in Poland - Duodopa and Dacepton-apomorphine - in 2017.
Wojciech Machajek is also the initiator of the Tulips of Hope award, given to individuals who have made significant contributions to improving the situation of those affected by Parkinson's disease, caregivers, and doctors' knowledge of the condition.
Since 2021, the Foundation has expanded its scope of activities and, therefore, changed its name once again - it now operates as the Brain Diseases Foundation. This step reflects the ambition to utilize acquired experience and knowledge to address the challenges faced by individuals suffering from other neurological diseases in Poland on a daily basis.

SUPPORT - providing substantive, psychological, and informational support to individuals with neurological diseases, as well as their families and caregivers, whose functioning is often severely impacted by the conditions.
EDUCATION - increasing knowledge about neurological diseases among medical professionals and the general public.
